The International College

Forest Lake College welcomes international students into its community providing opportunites for students to study intensive primary or secondary preparation courses through the International College.

Highly qualified committed and experienced teachers make the International College an ideal place for learning the English language preparing students for high academic performance. A blend of ESL and mainstream teaching methods allows students to experience a self paced learning environment.

With a population of around 1.5million Brisbane offers all the atttractions and facilities of a vibrant international city. The City is clean and safe for travellers and caters for the needs and interests of all overseas visitors.

Secondary school preparation course

This course is designed for students who have studied English as a Second Language in their home country but wish to enter mainstream secondary school classes at Forest Lake College. A minimum one year of study of English or equivalent is required before acceptance.

This program includes task based, inquiry based and discover based learning, enabling students to develop a vital range of skills to meet the study requirements. These include researchihng, investigating, analysing, probelm solving and presenting.

Students at the College may enter any university in all states in Australia and throuhghout the world. Many of our graduates entering the university have studied, law, medicine, science, computing, engineering, business and accounting.

Primary school preparation course

This course is open to international students aged 8 to 11 years with satisfactory and behavioural records in their own countries. The primary preparation courses commence four terms per year. The students study at the Forest Lake College Primary School for 20 weeks including Reading and Viewing, Writing and Shaping, Listening and Speaking, Grammar, Integrated studies including arts and sports programs. Students will participate in group activities, in class discussion and inquiry based learning.

Short and long term study tours

Forest Lake College welcomes study tour programs. We provide high quality English Language instruction and cultural activites. Study tours are planned to accommodate both the academic requirements of improving English language skills and learning about our city.

Special educational and recreational activities and excursions are also organised to offer students a wide range of Australian experiences and cultural experiences. Tours vary in length from one to twelve weeks.

Homestay program

Accommodation with a local family allows easy access to the College is required for all international students. Our registered homestay families provide a supportive and caring enviroment for students as part of the family. 

Enrolment process

Admission to the College as an international student is dependent on passing an English Language test and an interview with the Head of College.
